I know this is not strictly on topic, but I am after any advice on firewire cards for a Sony X1LB unit. I'd quite like to use a laptop dedicated for the purpose of ripping, so I've looked into Express slot Firewire cards, specifically Startech's EC13942 and EC13942A2. This is where my question comes in:
The only difference in them seems to be chipset:
VIA - VT6315
or
Texas Instruments - XIO2200A
I know I will need to use Windows 7, or maybe XP, but has anyone had any success or failure with either chipset? Or am I overthinking it and it doesn't really matter?
