    Dv-avi Codec

I tried to convert a DV-AVI file, and was directed to
the Codec Central page to download the appropriate
CODEC. But I couldn't find it. Is DV-AVI supported?

BTW, I tried searching the forums, but the words DV and
AVI were ignored, so I wasn't able to find the answer
    myself.

DV-AVI? Is this an audio file or a video file? What program created this file, if you know?

It's a DV video file with interleaved audio. It has the
file extension .avi. It's the most popular format for
capturing video from a DV digital camcorder.

I know dMC cannot convert video, but I am not sure about the audio component of it. We'll have to get Spoon's response on this, probably.

Well that's the answer then. I downloaded DMC quite a
while ago, and for some reason I thought it could convert
video as well as audio. My bad... Thanks for your prompt
          and helpful replies!

I use Stoik Video Converter 1.1 (a.k.a. VideoPak and it's a free program) from www.stoik.com to convert an avi to wmv and after that dMC to convert wmv to wma (yes, that part of dMC works).

So dMC can convert wmv to wma, as in ripping out the audio component of the video? That's always good to know. Thanks Christina.

Yes, I've done it. It won't get the audio out of a video mpg file though, for mysterious reasons, I guess having to do with the exact video & audio codecs used to make that mpg file. At least it never worked for me.

There's always the ubiquitous dMC AUxiliary Input when all else fails :smile2:
