View Full Version : Edit Tag option when right clicking file
It won't show up when I right click on MP3's but it will do it for WMA files. Any idea why this is happening or how to fix it?

Do you have either a registered version of dMC or an unexpired trial copy?
ID Tag Editting is a PowerPack option.

Did you install the WMA dMC codecs?
yeah i bought the power pack a few months ago. it was working for awhile but i think i maybe removed a program by accident or something because it just stopped doing it the other day.
i'll try the wma codec.

You have to have a proper installation of the registered version of dMC first, to allow using the tag editor.
Installing the wma codecs offers the recognition of wma files as files for which you can use dMC and associated programs (because you have codecs for them at that point).
But Windows XP also allows editting of ID tags through right click > Properties and the ID Tag tab. It will allow this probably for audio types that WMP is set to play.

Try running dMC Configuration then click on 'dbpoweramp settings' to put the option back.
I tried the WMA codec and a couple other effects codecs but still nothing. Should I just uninstall it and then try a reinstall?

Try the uninstallation mentioned here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=6828

I did that but it won't let me delete the file dBShell.dll
Any idea how to do that?

Did you reboot after uninstalling dMC? Try rebooting after uninstalling and then trying to delete it. If it still doesn't work, I have another idea that's a little more technical.
I gave up on the Id Tag editing and just have been using a different program for it. Now I can't get it to convert files. A message comes up saying that "The CODEC required to decompress 'F:\Howard Stern Show 12-16-05\12-16-05 2.mp3' could not be opened."

For all mp3 files or just that one?

If you don't have the registered dMC you cannot encode to mp3.
