Can anybody help me I am looking to convert mp3 and wav files to atrac 3 to allow transfer to a sony HDD head unit,

or if any body knows any other ays the files can be transferred on to the HDD. There are 2 connections on the front of the unit : 1 for a memory stick and one ( according to the book) to connect a netman to ? A portable hdd i presume.

I have looked and there seem to be atrac to mp3 converters but not the other way.

Thanks in advance

Generally speaking it looks like you need Sonic Stage Simple Burner which should have come with your MD head unit. You may want to check this thread here:

and in particular this download link here:

If these don't help, please let us know.
Best wishes,

dMC cannot convert to atrac3, as this is Sony's proprietary format and to convert to it, you have to pay a licensing fee.

So if for example I buy a cd from a shop put it into the head unit and record it onto the hdd it will be converted into atrac format, would there be no way of doing before it went into the unit ?

I understand you have to pay the fee but there are ways around most thisngs and I thought there may be a way around this.
The haed unit did not come with any software as it is a recon unit,

There are no anything to atrac3 converters other than what Sony makes, as they charge for people to make and distribute codecs. If you head unit didn't come with any software to do this, the best I can tell you is to try to find some.

Edit: Looked at xoas's link, go here for encoder: http://www.mdcenter.nl/redirect.php?file=http://www.mdcenter.nl/download/

not let me run any program and I can't read what I think is german.
