Hello,

I found a bug for the IDtag of OGG.
If we use special caracters like accent é, è, ê, ç, ù...
the name underwindows is complete but the idtag name is stop after the caracters.
6-François Hadji-Lazaro-Chanson de la fille du garde-barrière.ogg
becomes
author : Fran
Title : Chanson de la fille du garde-barri

This bug doesn't occur for MP3 conversion.

David

ps : This bug doesn't affect my opinion about this faboulous program.

I might have done this wrong, but I took an existing ogg file with a tag already there, I edited its tag and changed artist to

'François Hadji-Lazaro-Chanson de la fille du garde-barrière'

the resulting file had the all that string, are you doing it a different way?

I have the same problem. When ripping CD's to OGG the id tags are truncated when non 7-bit characters are encountered.

The freedb names should be converted into UTF-8 and written to the id tags.

Another problem is that the OGG codec writes the DATE tag as YEAR. In id3v2 it's YEAR, but in ogg it should be DATE. This problem is similar to the earlier tracknumber bug.

Sppon,

The bug comes when you rip an audio CD into OGG, then the creation of
the IDtag is wrong is you use accent.
If you do the same test but converting audio CD into MP3, it works
perfectly.

If you convert a MP3 to an OGG file, the IDtag is also wrong.

Of course, after conversion, you can edit the OGG IDtag and modify it
without any problem. but we loose the profit of cddb.

Hope you find a solution,

David

Ok I will mark it down as a bug and will look into when I next can - look out for a beta release of ogg.

Just a thought, why would you rip to mp3 then convert to ogg, surely that will degrade quality? Better to rip to ogg and live with the id tag.
Cheers,
Phil.

(Sorry if my english is not very well : I'm french :p)

I use dMC 10.1, with MP3 (Lame), Ogg Vorbis and Musepack codecs, downloaded on your site this week (OS : XP Pro)
I use too Tag&Rename, Zinf player and QCD Player (before) where I can see tags

This bug is still here, for me :)
ex : file "01 - L'Echapée" to convert from "Adrénaline" Album

MP3 to Ogg or MP3 :
Filename : "01 - L'Echapée.ogg"
Title : "L'Echape"
Album : "Adrnaline"

Ogg or CD track to MP3 :
Filename : "01 - L'Echapée.mp3"
Title : "L'Echapée"
Album : "Adrénaline"

It's the same bug with é,ç,ñ... letters
Is there an update or a compatibility problem with my codecs...?

But this bug, your products are greatful I think! :)

Thanks
