When I submitted to FreeDB I got a message saying the submission was not in UTF8. What can I do?

BTW here is a copy of the e-mail:
Your freedb submission was rejected for the following reason:

Submission is not utf8, existing database entry is utf8

Please fix the problem before you resubmit it. Only the first
error in your submission was noted - there may be others. If you
continue to have trouble, it may be due to a bug in your CD
player software. If you suspect this, try acquiring a newer version.

The link specified leads to this explanation for that message:
The reason why a UTF-8 encoded entry can't be overwritten with a non-UTF-8 entry is that a UTF-8 entry (eg. in Japanese) may contain character data which can't be presented in the ISO-8859-1 encoding. These characters will, except for some Eastern characters which will be transliterated, be shown as question marks in clients which haven't been updated to support UTF-8 (the entry is, in fact, probably all right). This will provoke people to try and overwrite it (eg. with transliterated Japanese, or worse, S-JIS presented as ISO-8859-1) while there might be no need to do so. This message will become less common as clients are updated. Ask the author of the application you use to support UTF-8.

If you are indeed using dMC version 4 (although it is possible that the reference is to dMC Audio CD Input), then you might want to update your version of dMC. If you are using dMC v10.1 (the current download), you might want to consider the most recent beta version (dMC r11 release candidate 1), although the r11 now includes mp3 support with the Power Pack (due to licensing issues from the copyright holder).

On the other hand, you may wish to reference the following thread re: uft8 support (in this case for Japanese characters) here:
http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=5620

Hope this helps. If not, please let us know. Perhaps someone will have a better idea for you.
Best wishes,
Bill Mikkelsen

V4.0 is just a static number, even for R10.

Looking at the submission I cannot see any UTF8 characters, not international characters.
