When using Simple Normalization in DSP Effects, you can type in the Desired Volume in percent of Maximum. I take it that you would type 100 if you want the material to be normalized to "all bits used".
But then you also have the possibility of typing in a number for Max Multiply x. Factory default seems to be 28, but what does it mean and what happens if I change the value?

It means more for the Adaptive normalize, basically if you had a very quite track, then the maximum it can increase the volume by is x28.
