View Full Version : Tag problem: Artist Name won't change

Yesterday my friend brought her band's CD around, I ripped it to FLAC.

Somehow I added her name to the artist element of the Tag -- I'm pretty sure I did all 11 songs in one batch.

The problem I've got now is that every CD I ripped today (mp3 or FLAC) has her name as the Artist! And that's despite the CD with the real artist being recognised in the on line database.

I've no idea how to get it back so that I don't have my friend's name on everything I rip from now on

TIA

Running any DSP effects? Is the Artist name showing up at the top of the CD ripper window?

Hi,

No DSP effects running.

And yes, the Artist name is showing up in the CD ripper window as per normal.

I wish I could remember exactly what I did to get my friend's name onto the flac tags. I think I created a new category in the tag first, then realised that wasn't what I wanted to get her name onto the Artist bit of the tag, and must have then changed the field which says "Artist" to contain her name.

But like I say, I can't remember exactly what I did with the tag editor.

I've tried a straight-forward un-install and re-install (I'm using v.11 btw) but it seems my "extra" codecs (e.g. flac, ape, etc) are still there so I'm guessing the Registry wasn't completely cleared out, or something like that. Certainly this tag problem has persisted through un/re-install.

PS don't know if this helps?

Well, I did it the caveman way...

for once System Restore actually worked and sorted the problem :smile2: .

I've still got no idea how the problem could have been fixed less ham-fisted though, or whereabouts my friend's name was "stored" in the computer to be used time and again in every tag from that point onwards.
