View Full Version : Batch Convert - Dynamic Folders option greyed out...

Hi,
Have just upgraded to the new version... on the older version of dbPowerAmp, I was able to convert a batch of FLACs to MP3 and have them spat out into a folder structure that would retain my preferred 'Artist\Album\xx - Song Name' structure.... however, although there is an option called 'Dynamic Folders' (I think, off the top of my head), this is greyed out and all I am able, seemingly, to get, is one big folder full of tracks from, at the moment, 7 different albums which I will then have to painstakingly re-sort into the Artist \ Album structure.
Am I missing something? Why is the Dynamic Folders option greyed out...?
Is there a way to preserve the folder & filename structure from the source files and have this automatically created for the target files.... as per the previous version of dbPowerAmp...?
Thanks in advance for any responses :-)

Dynamic Naming is Reference-only.

I see.... so, the upgrade included in my purchase has downgraded a key piece of functionality rather than upgraded it....?
That's not a very helpful upgrade if I may suggest.... I've paid for that functionality. I shouldn't have to pay extra for it now... (and I speak as someone who works in the software industry...).
This also renders the term 'PowerPack' something of a misnoma, in my opinion. Personally I think you should upgrade previous purchasers of the PowerPack to Reference, or put such features that have been moved to your new Premium 'Reference' version back into the PowerPack (a more sensible solution).
Assuming this is not going to be resolved overnight, is there anywhere I can download an older version of dbpoweramp?

You can request by email R11.5 registered, the reason that option was removed from the old 'file selector', was not to force people to upgrade to Reference (Dynamic Naming is 10x more functional than the options in file selector), rather I was never happy how those options were carried through to music converter, they were non-intuitive and caused many support messages on this forum, that is why they had to go.

I have version 12 of dbpoweramp (reference) and this feature for the batch conversion is still greyed out. Is there something special I have to do to activate the reference level features?

Look in dBpoweramp Configration, it should say Reference: Registered

FLAC to MP3. So I want to create a mirror directory structure of my FLAC Files in MP3 format.

Uninstall dBpoweramp, reboot, reinstall the registered version.

Thanks guys! This problem is all sorted! Appreciate all of the advice.
Next question. If I have the album art in folder.jpg files in my FLAC directorys and convert to a similar structure in MP3 format, how to I easily move the folder.jpg files over into this new structure. Is there a way to do it with this tool?
Thanks.

Use the "ID Tag Update" DSP effect, go to the Manipulation Tab, and pick "Export album art to" and pick "folder.jpg". Note that this will only work if you have the album art embedded in the files
