When I try to use dMC to convert I get a Windows No Disk error. It crashes the whole computer. The only way to restart is to power off. I have Release 12.3 (Registered) installed.

Does it say a drive there is no disc for?

No - it doesn't. However, could the issue be related to the fact that my Hard Drive is not c:, but h:. Was that a problem with dBpoweramp in the past?

First time I have heard of it in nearly 10 years, so not common. Which Windows version do you have?

I have Windows XP Professional. This is installed on my work machine.
I have the same version of Music Converter installed on my home machine (which has c: hard drive with Windows XP Home) and it never misses a beat.

On your work machine, is there a drive c?

Yes. It's one of a number of USB drives - for different types of cards - compact flash etc.

What happens if you insert a flash card so drive C has a disk in it? does the conversion work then?

Aha - yes. It works properly. When I take the card out, I get the Windows No Disk Error crash again.

You are using R12? which format are you converting from and to?

Generally converting from wav to mp3, or mp3 'standard' to mp3 'small'.

Using mp3 (lame)?

That's correct.

try this (see where some system paths are mapped):

select start >> run

cmd.exe

and type:

%appdata%
%tmp%
%temp%

it will show error messages, but I am interested in the paths that are shown.

Paths as follows:
%appdata% goes to H:\Documents
%tmp% goes to H:\Documents~1\Dougs\Locals~1\Temp
%temp% goes to H:\Documents~1\Dougs\Locals~1\Temp

I had a look through the source and c:\ is referenced as a dummy file for getting icons for the encoders, does it show the insert disk message before your convert or during the conversion?

Before the conversion starts.

Ok, thanks, fixed in next R13 alpha update (in the New Year).
