Sirs,
I have used dbpoweramp succesfully for a while and Lame encoding has always been at 45X to 51X speed. Two days ago it started to go much slower: Starts at those high speeds for like a second and then it drops to between 16X and 20X.

I need help.

Thanks

Do you have a multi CPU system?

No, I do not have a dual core machine.
Could it be that I defragmented the hard drive?

No defragging should speed it up. With mp3 Lame 20x encoding speed is normal, perhaps you were using mp3 Fraunhofer?

Just to verify - the slowness is in encoding, not ripping, right?

Yes. I am using the DirectShow codec to encode to mp3 Lame. Since I installed the new version I had enjoyed +/- 50X encoding, this lowering less than 20X increases times by too much. I was using 160 bit rate I even lowered that, but ecnoding is not faster.

What format files are you converting to mp3?

.aa
How would it be related to the format if dMC was doing a great job until a few days ago?

Maybe something is running in the background grabbing all the cpu?

Unfortunately, due to action taken by Audible, we cannot assist you in converting from .aa. See here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=8981
