Hi,

I am using the (Save in Dynamic Artists Folder) default option to rip my CD collection.

I am using SlimServer 6.5.2.1 on an Infrant NV ReadyNAS to stream to my Squeezebox 3.

I am under the impression that when you use the above method to rip, the cover art obtained is stored in the appropriate tag so that it will show when browsing the albums.

Am I doing something wrong, or do I really need to save the coverart as "folder.jpg" - doing this and using dynamic artist folders, only one cover will show...

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Depends upon which audio format is being used, and which id tag type.

I am encoding to FLAC.

I have the 'Album Art' tag selected in options.

I guess I have to add the Cover Art tag, which I can probably find rummaging the website?

Thanks

Are you using the beta FLAC r7 codec? The version of FLAC in Codec Central does not support album art.

No I am using the 'standard' issue, with dbpa - I'll get hold of r7 and try it out.

Here comes the next question:

Downloaded flac 1.1.4 sucessfully, copied the contents of bin to encoder in dbpa - now how will I be sure that I am using flac r7, as the dll has a different name, in_flac.dll vs flac.dll?

What do you mean you downloaded FLAC 1.1.4 sucessfully? The r7 FLAC codec is based on FLAC 1.1.4. Did you download the actual FLAC codec and copy-paste the dll?

Yes, I did - not the proper way, I guess??

No. If you downloaded r7 from the beta forum and installed it, you did not need to do anything else to get it working.

Also, to add your album art to the files, if you have the album art as a folder.jpg, you can use the ID Tag Processing DSP to embed the album art in the files. Note that you will need to re-encode them, but since you are using FLAC you will not lose any quality.

Slimserver is possibly not using the new FLAC 1.1.4 way of storing album art (might be wrong, it is only 3 months new, very little supports it), you might have to select dBpoweramp Configuration >> COdecs >> Advanced and set the id taggng for flac to id3v2.
