Hi there,

I've been looking around the forum but I can't seem to find anyone with a similar problem. I recently moved my music collection to a NAS drive and my music folder is mapped to the M: drive.

For some reason I no longer get the right click options and the edit tag tab doesn't appear in the properties window for any mp3 files on this drive. It all works fine for files on local drives but not the drive where all my music is :(

I use the edit tag option a lot to correct mistakes and such. The only thing i can do at the moment is copy the files to my local drive, edit the tags there and move them back... which is obviously a bit of a PITA!

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Simon

If you right-click on the files, go to "Properties", does the "Edit Tag" tab not show up there? It does for me on my local files.

Hi LtData,

Local files work fine, they aren't the problem... it's everything on my NAS drive (Network Attached Storage - A 300gb Buffalo LinkStation).

For some reason I no longer get the right click options and the edit tag tab doesn't appear in the properties window for any mp3 files on this drive. It all works fine for files on local drives but not the drive where all my music is :(

Does the drive have a drive letter assigned to it?

Whoops, missed your comment about the properties window. And Christina, he said the drive is mapped to M:

Sounds like it might be something specific to this particular NAS drive. At a vague hunch, I might suggest it was something to do with permissions on this drive.

Another suggestion may be that the way the NAS "talks" over your network does not use a standard Windows Explorer environment maybe? Does other software like WinZip/WinRAR/7z give you right click options on compressed files (for example, but this could be any software that makes itself appear in the right click menu)?
