Converting to .aa problems

Good Evening,

I am new at this, but I have spent hours reading former posts and still have not managed to get very far in coverting .aa to .mp3

So far I have downloaded
1) dBpowerAMP Music Converter Release 11.5
2) Install the DirectShow codec.
3) AudibleManager Ver 4.0 (I downloaded the windows 98 version as I read a few posts stating that the new version is causing problems)
4) Windows Media Player Filter

I then went into the DirectShow text file, added .aa and saved it. When I go back to the dmC config area I still can't see the .aa files.

When I open the music converter application I can not open the .aa files I have saved on my computer.

To be perfectly honest I still dont have my head around what codec are and how they work!!??

The Codec information that is listed in my config area is listed below, as you can see no .aa!@!!!

If anyone can shed any light on this it would be wonderful!!!!!!!

Can you play the file in Windows Media Player? If you cannot, then your problem lies wtih the WMP Filter. If you can, the problem lies with dMC interpreting the file. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the DirectShow Decoder for dMC then reinstalling it and adding ".aa" to the file again. Its odd that the DirectShow decoder doesn't show up at all, even with no extensions.

Thanks for replying - I tried playing the files on Windows Media Player and they played just fine BUT it isn't bookmarking where I get up to!

I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the codec but I'll try it again!!!

I was able to convert the .aa files until I upgraded AudibleManager to 5.0.0.5. After that, I can no longer perform the conversion. Pretty standard error saying the .aa is not present or the file is corrupted. The .aa is present in the DBExt.txt file (It think that was it's name).

I tried installing and uninstalling to no avail.

Audible seems to be pretty good at scaring conversion people with lawsuits.

Downgrade to the Win98 version of AudibleManager.
