    track times changing when converting

Hi, I am converting an audiobook from wav to mp3. The wav files add up to about 14 hours. When I convert the files to CBR mp3, the times match, but if I convert to VBR, I seem to lose about half an hour off the total time. Can you tell me what if anything is happening and how to fix this? I'm using DMC 13.4 on Vista Home Premium 32, if that helps. Thanks!!

It is likely that the program showing the bitrate for the VBR mp3 (windows explorer?) is not able to read VBR headers correctly.

as it turns out, the tagging program i use doesn't read VBR, either. i don't really need to use VBR for an audio book. not a big deal. thanks for replying!
