    Never-ending encode

    Hi,

I keep getting files which encode fine except at the end of the file it just continues encoding silence onto the end of the track until I cancel.

    Is this a known problem?

    thanks

no. (and you might provide more details. Windows or Mac, which version, codec (flac, mp3?), are you encoding the files to a local drive on PC/Mac or to a NAS or other network drive?

      Re: Never-ending encode

The problem hasn't repeated oddly enough, so I can go no further at this point. I do however have another issue.
      First my specs:
      Windows 7 pro 64 bit SP1
      Encoders (write)

      [Multi Encoder] Release 15.3
      Aiff Release 15.3 .aif
Apple Lossless Release 15.3 Apple Open Source ALAC v1.0 .m4a
FLAC Release 15.3 (FLAC 1.3.1) .flac
      m4a FDK (AAC) Release 3 (FDK v0.1.3) .m4a
      m4b (Audio Book) .m4b
      mp3 (Lame) Release 15.3 Lame 3.99.5 .mp3
      Test Conversion
      Wave Release 15.3 .wav
WavPack Release 10 (using WavPack 4.75.2) .wv

      Decoders (read)

Aiff Decoder Release 15.3 .aif, .aifc, .aiff
      CD Decoder Release 15.3 .cda
      FLAC Decoder Release 15.3 .flac
      m4a / mp4 Decoder .aac, .m4a, .m4b, .mp4
      Monkeys Audio Decoder .ape
      mp3 Decoder Release 15.3 .m2a, .mp1, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpga, .mpx
      Musepack Decoder .mp+, .mpc, .mpp
      Ogg Vorbis Decoder .oga, .ogg
      Opus Decoder .opus
Wave Decoder Release 15.3 .bwf, .wav
      WavPack Decoder .wv

The problem is this: I get an mp4 video file and strip out the audio using YAMB
This gives me an AAC file which I want to convert to mp3
Converter gives me the following error:
      Error converting to mp3 (Lame), 'F:\mp3\80\_new cds\nora - questa notte (inst.).aac' to 'F:\mp3\80\_new cds\nora - questa notte (inst.).mp3'
Error aac audio file is corrupt. [aacstream::clAAC::DecodeBlock]

I guess Yamb is doing probably something dumb, since I got this error on all 10 files I was processing, but any help or workarounds would be gartefully received.

      Thanks, Lozzy

EDIT: Incidentally, I also got the errors whether I was trying to go to mp3 or wav.
Foobar2000 plays the aac files no problem.
I tried another converter (TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5) and that converted the AAC to a wav file no problem

Our AAC decoder is not able to process all AAC streams currently.

Interesting. However the same Yamb has often created AACs that I CAN convert, so go figure eh?
