    Missing CD/DVD Drive

Hi I have 16.4 on Windows 10, and somehow can't see the CD drive anymore (there have been some big Windows 10 upgrades recently). The message I get is D: (Unknown) in the CD drive window. However Windows MediaServer can see the drive, rip from it oe play it. Any ideas...?

Try right click on CD Ripper icon (or dBpoweramp Control Centre) >> Run as Administrator

    Hi,
Thanks for the tip, but I tried that and it made no difference.
    Cheers

What security software are you using? You are not remote desktop connecting to the computer?

Hi, I am using Windows Defender and CC Cleaner only, and using dbpoweramp directly on the same laptop

What is the CD drive? internal, external USB?

You can try CD Ripper >> Options Menu >> CD Ripper Options

    Communication, set to 'Windows Internal'

Which version and build of Windows 10 are you currently running?

(Right click on the Start button and select Run from the menu. Type winver in the text box and click OK.)

Not sure, I have heard of this controlled access mode since around November. It could be we are able to detect this mode is enabled and inform users directly on what to do. One for a future update.

Hi, my Windows 10 is Version 1803 build 17134.48 - it is cured now thank's to Spoon's tip about CD Ripper. I am pretty sure it wasn't me that made any change that caused the problem.

This worked, thanks very much! I also changed Windows Defender "Controlled Folder Access" afterwards, just in case
    Thanks again RJS
