Any point to re-ripping CD's with R16.5 compared to R15.3?

Just upgraded and wonder if there would be any improvement? Probably nothing that I could hear..

Thanks for any opinions or input.

If you have ripped your CDs into a lossless format (i.e. flac or wav), then there are definitively no changes concerning the sound quality. The main difference between R15.x and R16.x is the user interface, the exchange of one metadata provider and some additional functions.

      Thank you!

I rip them into two formats at the same time (great feature), FLAC and mp3. FLAC as an archive and mp3 to listen on my phone.

For the most part I then sell or donate the CD's.

Just wondering if I should re-rip the ones I have lying around and it seems that it is unnecessary , per your post.

      Thanks again.

Re-ripping the complete collection with every new version of dBpa could be full-time job for some of the users around here.

Well, I think I might have 30 or so I haven't sold or donated, so it wouldn't be too bad. R15.3 was giving me trouble but the newer version is much faster.

And a complete waste of time if the original rips were a lossless format.

So, NOT a waste of time using a lossy format (mp3?).

Waste of time either way. I doubt there would be any significant improvements in new mp3 rips.

If you had no lossless, worth reripping to lossless. Otherwise no benefit. Since you already have flac versions, you can recreate mp3 easily with conversion feature. But even that is a waste of time unless you want to change from one level of lossy to another.
