I'm saying its impossible as you would have to replace the encoding chip which wouldn't sit well with the rest of the components in the player. Sorry man, we're out of luck.

wait! What if I don't care if the cd player looks ugly? (like, wires sticking out or whatever). Is it still NOT possible?

ok. Last option: Is it possible to take my computer harddrive, stick little batteries onto it, re-wire the power IDE cables or whatever and listen to music THAT way?

LOL! You are in great need to destroy both your player and your computer? :D The price of a powerpack is somewhat elss than either of those I think :D

Have you checked to see if your player can handle .wma files? many can.

Well I like to experiment. Besides, I don't have ANY kind of portable player yet, cuz my parents won't buy me one... But when I get my MP3 CD Player, I want to learn somehow how to put the OGG codec into it....I don't care if my future MP3 CD Player looks abused or anything.....

That would have to be part of the firmware, so it needs to be programmed into it. It shouldn't involve taking the machine apart though :D Learn how to do that, and you're in business!

Well, I suppose by studying the subject in depth and experimenting. Ask Spoon how he got to be where he is :D

Well then, when your long-suffering parents ( :komisch9: ) finally buy you a portable mp3 player, just make sure they pick one that plays not only mp3, but WMA and OGG (and other formats as well). There are dozens of them available.

Ew. No. I'm NOT getting a regular MP3 player. I want a CD Player that plays MP3s, so I can play 650-700 megabytes worth of music....i don't want an mp3 player that only does 128, 256, 512 megs of music only....

current portable mp3players do up to 5GIG, 10GIG, and 20 GIG now days. that's up to over 20 times the size of your cd player :D

ok. Find me a 5 gig, 10gig, or a 20gig, under 150 dollars and then laugh at me again. (Not trying to start a flame). I'm serious. :D

well you were only talking about size/capacity before. so yes price is a whole different kettle of fish. although i don't know current prices anyway.
