my current version of db power amp doesnt seem to be able to handle german fontsets - i.e. the mp3 tags dont show the special german characters. is there a special update to correct this ?

What tagged the original mp3 files? what is the tag format? id3v1, id3v2, APEv2?

its tagged by ID 3v2 & ID 3v1
IF you post a link to one of your files I can check it out, which Windows version are you using? (dMC R11 will correctly read Unicode encoded id3v2 tags).
