That resolves to another forgotten unprotected proxy server, this time from an outfit called root e Solutions in Luxemburg.

Keep those IP's banned, it will make it harder for this spammer to find a proxy that's not been banned. What cheek!

yeh you would think they would eventually run out of IP's to use.

Not really, please make all Spoons forum to be registered only. This guy will have an endless end of hacked machines he can spam from.

in the end a really persistant spammer could get to use dial up - meaning a varying IP

Oh that too, but this is obviously done by a program, not a very attractive endeavour to achieve by dial-up connections.

I have a feeling that complaints would have to be addressed to the sites that are being advertised, and if that fails to whomever is hosting them or their domain registrars. I think they are subscribing to some dubious service that must have promissed them hundreds and thousands of hits in a short time for a certain price, and spidering from numerous search engines to follow suit, and I suppose this is how those unscrupulous services plan to achieve this: by spamming high visibility forums in this manner. This is no housewife who's getting paid 10 cents a click to go and post a link in each forum she can find. This is a program tailored to spam Vbulletin forums.

ok, all forums should now be locked down. it's been good seeing an influx of new registered users :D and the forums are already starting to look better with names instead of "unregiestered" all the time.

I noticed the posting is about 1/4 it used to be, perhaps people are either:

                    1) Using the search for their questions,
                    2) Not bothering

                      Re: Waaah! Spam attack!

i would say it is a blend of both. those that decided not to bother were probably going to post

                      a.) impulsively without searching first.
b.) were not really that interested in the first place.

those that do register to post i think are

a.) definatley interested enough because they took the time to register to post
                      b. ) refer to "a.)"

and lets face it, most answers are found in the forums here anyway. and when we can't find the answer we post. and there has been approx 100 users registered in the last few days and a total of 258 for this month to date. i think that's all a good thing.
