mp3 to wma - window media audio v2 or v7?

what must I select on the dMC menu to convert mp3 to wma the window media audio V2 or V7? is the difference between the two that V7 makes it protected and V2 leaves it unprotected? an explanation of the difference of the two would be very appreciated.
I have been using dMC to convert mp3 to wma since many months and always picked the window media audio that was on top of the dMC menu and never paied attention to the V . today I converted a wav and now I have wav on top and now I don't know whether V7 or V2 is right.
    thank you for your help.

You should go for V7 (or V8, which is also available). V7 and V8 are more advanced and offer higher quality, and you can easily turn of the protection. V2 is quite an old format that you don't really need to use.

dMC does not protect any WMA files by default, it is an option you would have to switch on.
