Thread: Flac 24 bit to 16 bit

Flac 24 bit to 16 bit

I've searched the forums and found a few answers, but I'm still confused.
    I am using dbPoweramp 17.7
I need to convert a flac 24 bit, 44.1 kHz file to 16 bit, 44.1 kHz.
I assume, since I am not changing the sample rate, I don't need to use the resample option.
The other forum posts I've found say to use triangular dither. I can't find any option for this. There is no stand alone dither option listed in DSP effects, and if I select Bit Depth, the only option I'm offered is "Fixed", where I can choose between a number of options. I select 16 bit. The "Apply Dither" box is greyed out and I can't select anything there, even though the instructions say "Dither is recommended when reducing to 16 bits".

You need the Reference version for that option.

Is it only the latest Reference version that does this? I reinstalled my Reference version R17.2 (dMC-R17.2-Ref-Registered.exe), and it still does not offer this option that I can see.

Install the latest R17.7, the option should be in there.

Uninstall dBpoweramp, reboot Windows, then reinstall.
