OS X Ventura problem writing to SMB?

Upgraded to OS X Ventura, and I have started receiving "Unable to tag file" errors when dbPoweramp tries to write ripped files to a mounted SMB share (which has never been a problem in the past).

    Anyone experiencing a similar issue?

As a test set the output location to the local SSD drive, is it able to tag then?

Yes, writing to local SSD works fine! No errors.

I have tested the SMB share mounted several ways (directly within Finder, using a 3rd party mounting utility), and the same thing happens.

The number/frequency of errors when writing to SMB is inconsistent. Sometimes a few tracks work OK (and get written to the SMB share), then one/more report errors, and are not written to the SMB drive. Regardless of which ones write/don't write, dbPoweramp reports tagging error on all tracks (written and unwritten).

Let me know if there's any error log I can pull/provide which might help troubleshoot.

No errors when writing to local SSD.

A little more info on SMB errors. I have posted screenshots of the CD Ripper interface (which shows some tracks ripping with others indicating 'error'). There doesn't seem to be any pattern for which ones write successfully and which ones error out.

It is possible your network share has an unreliable connection?

Well, absolutely nothing has changed except for the upgrade to OS X Ventura. No changes to networking gear or configuration, no changes to SMB destination (NUC running Roon ROCK), no hardware changes to ripping machine.I have never had this issue (to any degree) before and have been using dbPowerampmfor years. The only thing that has changed is the upgrade to OS X Ventura.

As an experiment, I ripped the same brand new CD on the same hardware (laptop and CD drive) to the same SMB destination running latest version of dbPoweramp on each. I did one rip under OS X, and I did the second under Windows 11 via Parallels. OS X Ventura had multiple errors, while the Windows version ripped as expected with no errors.

    Windows 11 (Parallels): https://imgur.com/1kSxZqL

So, it seems pretty obvious there is something going on with OS X Ventura and current Mac version of dbPoweramp. Doing a bit of internet searching, I came across this thread on the TrueNAS site (https://www.truenas.com/community/th...entura.104067/). Could something like that be the culprit here as well?

    Possibly, definitely something low level.

Is this something you're able to look into? I don't know what language the OSX version is written in, or what development environment you use, or what APIs/functions/parameters Apple makes available.

Is there a logfile somewhere which might provide more info?

The code on all OS to write to a local disc, or to a network share, it is always the same, nothing special has to take place and it is assumed that it always works, what you have here most likely, is a conflict between the OS and the network share. There is nothing a program can do which runs on top of the OS.

Update for anyone else who has been experiencing this problem. This issue has finally been resolved (for me, at least) in Ventura 13.4. I am very happy I can go back to my prior workflow of ripping directly to my SMB share (and not having an intermediary step on my local hard drive).
