You need dBpoweramp Reference also (both programs installed to the same location), a trial is on this page:

what do you mean "installed in the same location"? I have a purchased copy of dBpoweramp and I have the same error message. Should I have changed the installation default location?

Install dBpoweramp Reference.

Then install dBpoweramp Batch Ripper, if you have changed the install location from the default for dBpoweramp Reference you would have to do the same also for batch ripper.
