Automatically Naming Tracks in a FLAC file/folder

I have a good album ripped to a FLAC folder containing 23 tracks whose names are absent. Is there a simple way to paste in the proper track names without having to manually type these? No, I do not have the CD so I cannot re-rip this.

    Thanks for the help,

    Tom Swaman

I do not think there is an easy way.

Hello Spoon and thank you. My real problem is that my FLAC folder contains 23 FLAC files and the original album I have checked several times only contains 22 FLAC files. UGH!

Play the files and use something like the "soundhound" app on an iphone to listen to the songs and tell you what they are. If not too obscure songs should work.

Are you saying that the track filenames contain no recognisable names or track numbers AND the track files contain no metadata tags?

    nvile,

The tracks are numbered, but these are otherwise unnamed.

    Thanks,

So no file names, no track numbers. Does the folder at least contain the Artist and/or Album names somewhere? You mention that it is a good album, do you know who the Artist is from listening? Since you don’t have access to the CD, the only way forward is from an online database that you can manually search, like Discogs or similar.

Music Brainz Picard has a fingerprint mode that does a pretty good job of identifying music, but it doesn't run on phones AFAIK, only on computers (Windows, Mac & Linux).

Re: Automatically Naming Tracks in a FLAC file/folder

To close this issue, I found something corrupt in Track 2, bought a cheap used copy that ripped perfectly and put my problem where it belongs. Again, thank you all for the education and assistance.

    Best regards,

    Tom Swaman
