Force no date on your year

I went to CD Ripper Options - Meta Data & ID Tag Options and set "Force no date on your year (ie 2004 not 2004 03 23)". However when I RIP a CD I still sometimes see month and day info.
Am I misunderstanding that this is doing?

I recall that I see the info in CD Ripper, but only the year is written to the tag.
