Thread: Add Tracknumber to Track in ID3 tag

    Add Tracknumber to Track in ID3 tag

    I have a big FLAC library which I want to convert to MP3 or AAC for use in the car.
    However, my car media player plays album songs in alphabetic order of the Track title in the ID3 tag.
    Also I want the albums to be in the order of release year.

    So, during conversion from FLAC to MP3/AAC I want to change the ID3 tags for the songs.
    I want to change:

    [Track] --> [Tracknumber] [Track]
    [Album] --> [Year] [Album]

    I have tried to use the ID3 processing options in Music Converter, but I was not able to find the correct settings to do this.
    Is it possible to achieve these changes?

    I hope somebody can help me.

    In my opinion you need to change the file naming, not the ID3 tags.

    This program will simplify the writing of audio for a car:

    (you might find it is not alphabetical order but order written, tunefusion can optimize fat32 for the correct order).

    At first I thought it was indeed the filename I had to change, but I have tested that and it is not the case. It is really alphabetical order of the track name.

    Is there a Mac version as well?

    Re: Add Tracknumber to Track in ID3 tag

    Hi Marco,

    I tried everything to get my car player to play back in the correct order, but because it plays tracks in the order written and this can be very random, the only way I managed this was one track at a time!

    See Spoon's reply above, running the USB through TuneFUSION overcame the stupidity of the car player - highly recommended.

    Re: Add Tracknumber to Track in ID3 tag

    Dear all,

    Thanks for the quick answers and suggestions. I did some more testing and it seems to really be alphabetical order of the Track title of the ID3-tag. As I don't want to manually update these I have decided to make sure the naming of the files is correct (with Tracknumber) and also the Album folder name including the year of issuance (e.g. "1969 Abbey Road"). This could be easily done with MusicConverter. Now I will only use the "Browse folder" option of my car media player and then it comes close to what I wanted.
    Again thanks for your help.
