Restrictions on ripping from USB drive?

I'm down to my last SATA IDE drive and am wondering if I could double my efforts using an external USB drive instead.

I recall many years ago there were limitations, possibly around error correction with using a USB drive? Is this still the case? Have I made it up?

I use a drive connected via USB for ripping and have no issues with getting secure rips.

I use both Pata and SATA drives via a powered USB adapter, no problem achieving AccurateRips.

It could be c2 detection that doesn't work correctly via USB. Have you turned c2 pointers off?

I've not got a caddy yet, I have an old reliable IDE plextor drive I use on rare occasion to rip more battered discs, usually works a treat.

I think it is the C2 errors now you come to mention it.
