Ripping to FLAC is producing 32 bt files instead of 16

I just ripped a CD in dbPowerAmp and when I load the FLAC files into VLC Media Player and bring up the Media Info panel. The "Bits per Sample" says 32. When I rip to ALAC and play in VLC Media Player, the "Bits Per Sample" is 16. What gives?

Have you got any DSP effects configured such as 'Bit Depth"? Also, load the file into MediaInfo and double check the bits per sample listed for the file there.
