Looking for disc...forever; AccurateRip is unconfigured; disc is in drive;Big Sur OSX

    CDRipper

    Compact disc is never found.

Start up of dBpoweramp then selecting CD Ripper results in the CD DRIVE pop-up indicating "No disc inserted". (Yes, disc was not inserted.)

Upon inserting a disc, the CD Drive popup displays "Looking for disc..." forever without finding the disc, the main view of titles and status likewise reports, "Looking for disc..." forever.

The AccurateRip section reports AccurateRip is unconfigured.

The CD ROM section reports "No drive selected"

Finder shows the disc mounted on the desktop.

Ejecting the disc does not result in the CD DRIVE pop-up resetting to indicate "No disc inserted". Instead, it continues to indicate "Looking for disc..."

This is an initial installation attempt of dBpoweramp 17.4 (1) onto an Apple MacMini Big Sur 11.2., with an Apple SuperDrive.

Been using a Macintosh since 1985, and computers since 1977, but that apparently is not enough.

BTW, XLD has no problem whatsoever. No it is not running at the time I attempt to run dBpoweramp.

    See:

macOS Catalina (or newer) introduces per program security access settings, normally OS X will ask when the program tries to access something if it should be granted permission. This security setting can also be set at a later date, click the Apple menu icon: System Preferences >> Security & Privacy >>

Same issue here with High Sierra. Mine does find the drive after 15 min or so. Then try's to rip without success

Other programs are able to rip? do you have any security software?

No security software. iTunes can not rip also. Cd's play fine and there does not seem to be any other issues with the drive itself. I do think this all started with the last security update from apple. iTunes will look like it rips the cd after a very long time. However, when added to the library it shows the artwork and titles but is missing the track time info, click to play and it will scroll thru the titles. Thanks Spoon

Not sure what we can suggest, if iTunes cannot rip either, then something in the OS is stopping ripping.

Problem Solved by setting permissions to allow access.

If OSX provides a Permission Denied code, them please have Ripper provide that message in the UI.
