CD Ripper 17.2 thousands of errors suddenly

I recently bought some discs in the Time Life Solid Gold Soul series (The EU version not the US) but when I try to rip them 2 different machines show up thousands of errors on every track.

The discs were new and sealed and play fine in a cd player. What's going on? Any ideas on troubleshooting steps I can take?

What is this madness? Happy Christmas anyway!

They could be copy protected CDs.

Thanks Spoon and a happy Christmas too!

But shouldn't they say somewhere that that's the case? I haven't had the problem with other titles in the same range.

However if you're right, what's the correct setting to deal with that?

I'm sure I've encountered this before but that time the CDs and sleeves were clearly marked with copy protected symbols. There's a setting somewhere I know!

      Thanks again!

        Try a different cd drive.

Just FYI I got the same result on 2 different pcs with 2 different drives.

However activating the "Defective By Design" settings allowed them to rip successfully.
