    ripping into multiple formats / directories

    Hi

    I would like to rip my CD collections into 3 different formats: FLAC, mp3, m4a.

    in my home directory is a directory ~/CD with three corresponding subdirectories. I have specified the corresponding directory for each encoder (like ~/CD/FLAC).

    After ripping the files are in ~/CD/XX/yada.flac, ~/CD/XX/yada.mp3 etc

    It's not straight forward to be that a path has to be specified when ripping to multiple encoders as the path names are defined in the encoders (?)

    This is OSX 10.15.7 with the latest version of dBpoweramp

    Thanks in advance !

    Use multi-encoder and set the unique path for each encoder page.

        Re: ripping into multiple formats / directories

        Usually you set a base path for each decoder. The rest of the path is created dynamically based on your naming string. So this flexible and straight forward.

          Thanks for your reply. That is what I did - at least I think.

          What I don't understand why I need to specify a path when selecting "Multi Encoder". It rips to this path, ignoring what I have specified for each encoder.

          For Example at the left-hand side I have specified

          Rip to (Multi Encoder)
          Path /Users/myhome/CD

          for FLAC : /Users/myhome/CD/FLAC
          for MP3 : /Users/myhome/CD/MP3

          The CD is ripped into /Users/myhome/Album/title.flac resp /Users/myhome/Album/title.mp3

          The path I have entered for the encoders is ignored

          Thanks

            I have tried to remove the subdirectories under ~/CD (~/CD/FLAC ~/CD/MP3).

            The GIU complains about this, after recreating them it still rips to the directory under ~/CD/AlbumName

            Something seems to be broken there

            Looking into some of the debug output it seems the correct path is used at some point internally:

            "CodecCLI_[Multi Encoder]":"-enc1="FLAC=-uncompressed" -encMopt1="-tofolder={mqt}/Users/matthias/CD/FLAC{mqt} -tofolderfriendly={mqt}~/CD/FLAC{mqt} -dynamic={mqt}[origpath]/[origfilename]{mqt}"",

            but the profile:

            "LastCodec":"[Multi Encoder]",
            "OutToPath":"/Users/matthias/CD",
            "OutToPathFriendly":"~/CD",

                  Re: ripping into multiple formats / directories

                  That is the issue, you are using 'source filename' this has no meaning for CD Ripping because the source is a CD.

                  You would copy the full naming string from CD Rippers naming section and paste it into the multi-encoder naming section.

                      CD Ripper main screen click 'set' next to naming, then copy that naming string to the clipboard.

                      Visit the encoder settings page within Multi-encoder, where it says 'output to' select 'edit' option in the drop menu and past the naming string, ensure the path at the top is correct also.

                        Thanks, that seems to work. This is however one of the worst user interfaces I have ever seen where you have to provide redundant information otherwise it is not working as expected with any warning/error

                        Honestly I would not buy this again.

                          This information may be redundant in your eyes, 'cause you don't understand the purpose and flexibility of that design.

                            Why don't you simply explain the flexibility ? I'm happy to understand more about the design.

                              This way you can configure multiple, independent datasinks with different handlings (audio format, conversion, tag handlings, album art size, namings etc. pp.) for different purposes (hifi system, mobile audio player, car audio system etc. pp.) for one datasource. On top you can save such sets as profiles, so you only have to define and configure them once.

                              This way I've ripped and manage(d) about 3.400 albums for libreelec, iTunes / ipod (terminated), Sonos, Fiio and my Audi car hifi system. Very handy!
