Unable to rip new CD. Every track is showing as "Insecure".

    Hello,

I am attempting to rip a 2 disc CD set to FLAC and I keep getting insecure errors. The CD surface is flawless.

I am able to rip the first CD without issue.
When I attempt to rip the second CD, every track fails and is insecure.

I have not ran into this issue before and believe it may be the CD pressing(?)as I have tried ripping it with CueTools and EAC and they both return errors attempting to rip only this CD.

I've ripped probably 300+ CD's in my collection with this drive and dBoweramp configured for Secure ripping. I can rip other CD's no issue, just not this one.

The CD in question is from:
    New Order - Substance 1987 - (FACD 200)

Can you try ripping disc 2 in another optical drive?

Which country/territory is your version of Substance?

Turn off C2 pointers if they are on

Sorry for the *extremely* late response. I unchecked C2 pointers and still get the same result.

I've tried this particular CD in CUERipper and EAC as well and they were also unable to rip it successfully.

I have tried 3 drives on different Computers:
        LG WH14NS40
        LG BP50NB40
        Pioneer BDR-208M

I am beginning to think it may be an issue with the CD. The disc is new and the surface is spotless.

is it a CD with "protection". I didn't think they were issuing many of these lately but in the late 90s/early 2000s, they issued lots of CDs that couldn't be easily ripped.

I checked and was unable to find any indication of copy protection on the disc, Jewel case, or the inserts.

I know back in the day there were tools to lookup a disc copy protection, but that was too many years ago for me to remember lol

hard to say. they often didn't mention this on the CD itself. About what year was this CD released? Anyhow, if dbpa is working on most other disks, then it is definitely something odd about this CD. (and I've had brand new out of the box CDs cause more ripping issues that beat up CDs from the 80s....so clean CD doesn't necessarily mean much....could be errors at the pressing plant).

                maybe intentional mastering errors.

Oh well, I'll chalk this on up as a loss.

                Thanks for helping.

                Regards!

of course, even though every track insecure, listen to the rip. It may sound perfectly OK. Insecure could mean a few frames are wrong. But a few frames being off wouldn't even be audible.
