    3rd party AC3 Filter 2.6.0b software triggers anti-virus warning

    Greetings -
I need to convert some AC3 Dolby Digital files to WAV, so I'm following the instructions provided on Codec Central to download the ac3filter_2_6_0b.exe software from http://www.ac3filter.net/wiki/Download_AC3Filter .

When I go to install this software, my Avast anti-virus software is triggered, indicating the package is infected. Understanding that a lot of freeware triggers a false positive for viruses, I uploaded this file to https://www.virustotal.com, and 21 different virus scanners detect an adware package inside the AC3Filter package called "OpenCandy".

Just wondering if anyone else has run into this issue and what you did to work-around the issue. Is there another source for a clean version of this package that doesn't include adware or other malicious software? Is there an alternate method of converting AC3 stereo or surround audio to 2-channel WAV?

Thanks for any pointers or advice!
    Regards,
    mikebo

    It is documented here:

A random advertisement for 3rd party software application is displayed only during the installation process. No software is installed on your machine without your consent.
