Ripping A CD for Sound Optimization

So if I understand correctly there's a way to raise the sound level when ripping? Is this like a form of remastering?

    Thanks

the best you can get by ripping is a 1:1 copy. You can't improve the result by increasing the bit depth or the sample rate higher than the one's of the Red Book Audio CD Stsndard, which is 16 bit and 44.1kKHz. There is no more information on a a CD than that. Everything else is guessing or the attempt to please a special taste.

That is a nice way of saying, no, this idea is simply crazy and more of the typical audiophool nonsense.
