Hey jdcollier,
the best you can get by ripping is a 1:1 copy. You can't improve the result by increasing the bit depth or the sample rate higher than the one's of the Red Book Audio CD Stsndard, which is 16 bit and 44.1kKHz. There is no more information on a a CD than that. Everything else is guessing or the attempt to please a special taste.
