Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
- Asset unwanted art in Menu icons -
when a mp3 (FLAC)has Genre set to Genre --> cover art pops up at the menu icon for genre.
happens with music-filens With/Without cover inbedded in music-file tag, and Folder.jpg and Front.jpg in folder.
have seen this behavor since version 5 (I belive)
----------------------------------
setup:
windows 10 version 1909
asset 6.2 (running as service)
folder structure:
JACK_MEATBEAT___T.U.S._-_Misplaced_devotion__1994_mp3/17 I Walked With A Zombie.mp3
JACK_MEATBEAT___T.U.S._-_Misplaced_devotion__1994_mp3/Folder.jpg
JACK_MEATBEAT___T.U.S._-_Misplaced_devotion__1994_mp3/Front.jpg
----------------------------------
test solution 1
- running asset as a service
- changed Genre tag for the mp3 file from Genre to Pop
- detect changes
- restart asset
- some benefits down the tree, the art was gone in some places but still resident under Root menu tree genre.
test solution 2
- running asset as a service
- changed Genre tag for the mp3 file from Genre to Pop
- refresh all
- restart asset
- art gone in Root menu tree Genre -success-.
Notes:
seems that every time a file taged genre:genre sneaks in to the library, I have to do it all over again.
if you have a big arcive with files and not so well organized , aka folder/filename dont correspond to tag .... set aside some hours and god hunting
I bet some tag software puts in genre:genre as default, just for reminder to actually put in a god genre name
wonder what if a put in Tag:
Artist:Artist (formly know as Prince)
Album:Album (as The Album)
Genre:Genre (Prince dont want to categorize his music)

Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
You could search for and delete Genre.png and asset will not serve it. The matching is not simply for pre-defined menus, many people replace the name of their artist with a picture.

Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
Got it but --> will check it out
have to investigate it some more and learn.
But aint:
\Illustrate\dBpoweramp\AssetImages
separated from
AppData\Roaming\dBpoweramp\uMediaLibrary\AssetUser UpstreamImages
that means:
if I want to change PNG images in
\Illustrate\dBpoweramp\AssetImages
I can do that
if I want to change/add PNG images in
AppData\Roaming\dBpoweramp\uMediaLibrary\AssetUser UpstreamImages
I can do that
should I think globaly ?
As it are now music file with art tagged with Genre:Genre overrides Genre.png automaticly.
an unwanted function

Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
One is based on a library, so could have multiple instances with different images, the AssetImages apply to all asset instances.
-
Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
"multiple instances with different images"
very clever !
-
Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
Tried suggestion "You could search for and delete Genre.png and asset will not serve it"
in folder \Illustrate\dBpoweramp\AssetImages
actually just renamed "Genre.png" to "Genre.png_" guess its nearly the same as delete.
Renamed Tag in JACK_MEATBEAT___T.U.S._-_Misplaced_devotion__1994_mp3/17 I Walked With A Zombie.mp3
from
Genre:Pop
to
Genre:Genre
Asset: detect changes
Asset: restart
The same problem occur:
I get the Art image for JACK_MEATBEAT___T.U.S._-_Misplaced_devotion__1994_mp3/17 I Walked With A Zombie.mp3
represented in Top Tree Genre (That level as Artist, New Albums are) with Linn Kazoo control software running on windows 10
As it are now music file with art tagged with Genre:Genre overrides Genre.png in in folder \Illustrate\dBpoweramp\AssetImages automaticly.
an unwanted function !/?

Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
-just for fun-
I tested in \Prince\prince.mp3
tag
Artist:Artist (formly know as Prince)
Album:Album (as The Album)
Genre:Genre (Prince dont want to categorize his music)
Year:Year "time is a mind constuction. itīs not real" - Prince
folder stucture:
\Prince\prince.mp3
\Prince\Folder.jpg
\Prince\Front.jpg
asset: detect changes
asset: restart
The top menus, Arist, Genre ... under Linn Kazoo Control software now ,, well
itīs not just that, the art are realy ugly !
https://www.discogs.com/release/2562...evotion/images
get the "picture" ?
-just for fun-

Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
tested with:
Prince\prince.mp3
Prince\Folder.jpg
Prince\Front.jpg
mp3 Tag:
Artist:Artist (formly know as Prince)
Album:Album (as The Album)
Genre:Genre (Prince dont want to categorize his music)
Year:Year "Time is a mind constuction, its not real" - Prince
asset: Detecting changes/refresh all
asset: restart (asset running mode local account)
well thats not looking good :-/
and a other thing when mp3 tag cleaned up --> asset Detecting changes/refresh all --> asset restart (asset running mode local account)
everything looks almouse great under Control software Top Tree (level Artist, Album, New Albums ...)
exept that genre icon are now greyish, background of icon are now a littlebit offestt..

Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
All comment above based on:
windows 10 version 1909
asset 6.2 (running as service & local account)
Linn Kazoo control point 4.13.63
Tag software: mp3tag
-
Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
however: about that genre icon are now greyish, background of icon are now a littlebit offsett..
that only seems to be related to Linn Kazoo 4.13.63 running on iPad iOS 10.3.3
guess Linn Kazoo on iOS dont display control point icon "as is"
some cache thing or that kazoo on iOS want to highlight latest used icon, i guess.

Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
Tried suggestion "You could search for and delete Genre.png and asset will not serve it"
no success
mp3 files tagged with Genre:Genre, Artist:Artist .... and Folder.jpg & Front.jpg in folder
still overide icon (PNG) in \Illustrate\dBpoweramp\AssetImages
Even if the file ***.PNG in \Illustrate\dBpoweramp\AssetImages exist or not.
Is this by design ?
if it is, I can make a ticket in the whislist forum.
asset setting on/off
for files tag overide "\Illustrate\dBpoweramp\AssetImages" folder
-
Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
I believe you would have to copy the genre.png to the 'AssetUserUpstreamImages' folder and this would override everything.
-
Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
ok will try it .
just for clarification:
renamed "Genre.png" to "Genre.png_" guess its nearly the same as delete ?
but who knows,
sometimes clever programs act like .....
- you think u can fool me by just renaming the file haha, dont you know I using
advanced search algoritms and fingerprints
to se its the same file, you just renamed it.
some backup program behave like this.
-
Re: Asset unwanted art in Menu icons
you would be better as .pn_ as it searches *.png and it could possibly find *.png_
