macOS Mojave, ripping speed only possible with (Maximum)

For about 10 years I use the CD ripper (R15) on the iMac under macOS10.6.8 with BootCamp and Windows XP.
I use the external CD drives PLEXTOR PX-W 1210A and Yamaha CRW-F1.

Last week I installed the version R16.6 MAC on a new iMac with the following result:

    1. When the CD Drive is open, the drive is no longer recognized. Only when the CD is inserted manually, the drive is recognized.

    2. The Eject button can no longer be used to close the drawer.

    3. Under Windows XP I could adjust the ripping speed. The ripping speed is no longer adjustable. The drive is fixed at maximum.

What do I have to do to be able to set the ripping speed?

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Re 1 & 2
Unfortunately what you're observing is the normal behavior. Mac OS doesn't let dBpoweramp enumerate optical drives, only inserted discs. Which makes it impossible to close the tray with eject button.
I'll note this as a problematic behavior and see if it can be worked around.

    Re 3
Problem noted, I'll check why this is grayed out and get back to you.

The smallest adjustable ripping speed is now x4.
The drive also allows x1 and x2.
Can this be supplemented? That would be very important to me.
    Thanks in advance.

I am using an AQVOX (Plextor PLEXTOR PX-W 1210A) drive. The special feature of this very good drive is the possible 1x speed. In the magazine STEREO HIFI DIGITAL 2/10 the drive was tested with the following result: "In fact, a track extracted with 1x on the AQVOX sounds a bit more homogenous in the mids than it does in 4x. The difference is small but there is a difference."
Since then everything has ripped with the 1x speed. I have not made comparisons with higher speeds myself.

Unfortunately, I can no longer use this preference of the AQVOX drive. I would be very happy if the 1x speed would be adjustable again.

Sorry to say, but forget about this voodoo stuff. Ripping is a digital read out of data and in case of accurate rip digitally compared to other digital read outs.

Yep, it is rubbish. If you install MS Word (when it came on a DVD) and the drive read at x1 did you get a better MS Word than if it read at x20? audio is the same, it is digital and verified later by accuraterip.

Sorry, but I do not want to discuss this topic.

My question is simply: Can the speed x1 be supplemented, as in the old program version? That should not be a problem. Or is it?
