High resolution audio to cd quality

do you lose audio quality converting 24bit 96khz music to 16bit 44khz?

You should use the DSPs in this order:

    Resample (to 44KHz)
Set Bit Depth (to 16 bit, dithered)

This preserves as much quality as possible in 16 bit

44-48khz should be the limit btw any music in 96khz or 192khz just sound awful!

But only if the source has been recorded with that sample rate and bit depth, or if the analogue source has been digitized in such a way. Audio CDs (Red Book Standard) are limitied to 16bit and 44,1kHz (only exeptions are the rare HDCD).

Upsampling will never increase the quality of a signal. Downsampling will reduce the quality of a signal in most cases.

    ?
I agree that 24 bit over 16 is the biggest SQ improvement, but that's not to say the sample rate isn't. I don't know where this is coming from?

If y'all like 96khz and 192khz good for y'all lol but to me that is overkill and to my ears the music doesn't sound right when the sample rate go beyond 48khz

    Yes, you lose audio quality.

No, you probably won't be able to hear the difference (44/16 was chosen wisely).
