PerfectTunes ID Tags either shuts down or stops reading disk

Hi,

When reading files on a USB disk ID Tags either shuts down completely or stops reading before it has read the disk completely. In the first instance the USB drive also disappears from the disk options. In the second instance the programme is "locked" and there is nothing to do but to shut it down.

I have tried Album Art and AccurateRip and they both work well with the same disk.

The number of (WAV and Aiff) files on the disk is around 29 000. There are no other kind of files in the folder selected.

What could be the problem?

Does it also disappear from Windows Explorer?

Hi Spoon,

No, the drive is still there and is accessible to other programs. It just happened again, but in a different way, ID Tags closed by itself and I was sent back to the Control Center. From there I could start ID Tags again and the drive was available.

You are using the Windows version? please ensure using the latest version.

I wonder if it is silently crashing, try setting this up:

and see if files appea in the folder.

Hi,

I guess I have the latest version, I purchased and installed it a couple of days ago.

I have set up the Crashdump as per the instructions. Will report if the programme craches.

However this is partially solved now: I noticed that before giving up the programme would read more and more of the disk. So I ran it a couple of times and now it has read the whole disk. I say "partially" because whenever I want to change how the files are sorted, the software sometimes work, and sometimes "hangs".

I'm not sure if this is any help to explain its behaviour: I do not keep subfolders for albums or artists on the disk, all files are directly under the disk in a folder Music. Maybe this affects the programme's performance?

I also emptied the database and ran Album Art and AccurateRip again, and these work just fine.

How many files?

Remember to disable crash dumping when finished with it.
