    Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter off-screen

Folders are overlapping all around the screen. They are a little bigger than a fourth of the screen.
    1920 by 1080.
DPI is set to 100%. (I know Windows default is annoyingly 150%)
    Only one screen.
Attached are samples of the folder sizes and how it looks when it goes off screen.

The image shows you are actually converting, so you add files, the click convert, it is on screen? then add more files and the converting page goes off screen?

The main converter window, where you select what you're converting to and all the DSPs, stays in one place while adding more files from other folders. As far as I can tell, it tries to be centralized to the folder window it was opened from.
Once you click Convert >>, that's when the progress windows pops up and is seen like in my screen shot.

Please try R17 which is in the testing section of this forum. I have not been able to reproduce what you are seeing (adding the 2nd bunch of files does not move the first conversion option page).

    Same thing.
    Steps to reproduce:
Open two folders with files to convert. Have them overlapping a little or a lot, but not exactly in the same spot. (Not two full screen windows)
Using the right click 'convert to' option, add the files from one folder.
    Close that folder.
Add the files from the remaining folder using the same right click menu option.
    Click Convert >>.

    Back story:
One of the programs that I process my music with, only accepts wav format.
Knowing that wav can have errors while converting multiple files with multiple cores, I do it anyway. I have found over thousands of conversions, that only the first batch ever gets messed up. (If I have 4 cores, only the first 4 files have a chance of getting messed up.) So I created a bunch of dummy files to run first and put them in a folder that's easy to access. The dummy files are all different lengths to reduce the chance of two cores starting to work at the same time. FILES ONLY GET CORRUPTED WITH THIS OTHER PROGRAM IN THE CHAIN.

    Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter off-screen

    Hello,

    I am facing the same problems with dBPoweramp and Total Commander on my laptop (ThinkPad x61 / 12.1" / 1024x768 / Win7 N SP1 x64)

On my desktop everything is fine, since I use a 24" monitor with 1920x1080.
But on my laptop the DMC convert dialog goes off-screen.

    screen capture

    Any ideas?

    Save this file:

    http://www.dbpoweramp.com/beta/MusicConverter.exe

    To:

    C:\Program Files\dBpoweramp

overwriting the existing, then convert 1 file, it will popup an info box, press Ctrl + C on box and paste here please. Example:

    ---------------------------
    Z:\
    ---------------------------
    1050254 0 162 2560 1520
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

    Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter off-screen

I have been having this problem for a long time too. I am running multiple displays, and the converter window is always off screen. I would normally have to press ALT+SPACE to bring up the System Menu, then choose Move, then use the keyboard arrow keys to begin the move process, then finally the mouse to complete moving the window into view.

For me, the issue is somewhat mitigated by third party window management software (Actual Window Manager), however, if I forget and have that program turned off, this issue comes back to haunt me. Very annoying it is.

I've used the .exe in the post above, here is the result:
    ---------------------------

    ---------------------------
    17244826 0 0 1 0
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

Any help on this greatly appreciated.

    Jeff

    Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter off-screen

This is actually a bug in the Window managers. The Windows API states when a right click command is invoked from a menu then it passes the Window Handle of the Window from which the menu was launched (ie the file browse window). In these programs they are passing another window handle, which has a window with the co-ordinates 0,0 1,0 dBpoweramp centers on these co-ordinates...

It is not an easy fix for us.

    Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter off-screen

Could not the XY coordinates simply be hard coded as the last-used (and store in the user reg key), rather than attempting to center as parent, etc?

It could but that would be a step back for those who have multiple explorer windows open and large or multi desktop screens, those who use normal Windows without these extensions (which is almost everyone).

fair enough, what about the idea of a config setting "remember last window position", for those who would prefer a known fixed location?
