Thread: Dropping tags when converting

    Dropping tags when converting

    Hello,

I've tried searching the forum but haven't been able to find the answer - hoping you can help: whenever I convert from flac to mp3, dBpoweramp drops the year tag and adds a date tag. Is there any way to stop this?

    Many thanks,
    Damian

You have a tag in FLAC which is for example:

    Year: 2019

and the mp3 tag has a tag labeled 'Date'?

Yes: before the conversion my files would have Year as a tag. After conversion, the Year field is blank and Date has been added (with the same data). No other fields are touched.

You can upload one flac file to dropbox please and Personal mail me a link.

Which version is your dBpoweramp? does it run on Windows or OSX?

    It's dBpoweramp 16.6 (64-bit), on Windows 7 (64-bit).

The FLAC file internally stores the year as 'Date', however dBpoweramp is normally set to read this as Year. I convert with R16.6 to mp3 and the written tag is Year.

Run dBpoweramp Control Centre >> Audio Codecs 'List / Options' >> Flac ID Tagging, ensure Mapping *4 'Year to Date'
