WMF to aif conversion issue

Downloaded WMA files from Qobuz today. Pretty slick. The WMA files play fine on my Windows 10 PC. I tried to convert them to aif. Oops. Didnt have the WMA codec. Downloaded it no problem. Also noticed I didnt have the latest verion of Dbpoweramp. Updated that. Converted from WMA and everything looked good... No dice. The aifs play back in itunes as just clicking noise. Same with my music player. Tried WMA to flac. Same thing. Am i doing something wrong? I have done thousands of conversions from wav and flac to aif before with no issues.

The files are showing up as WMA 9.2.

The conversion looks like it works fine. But then I play the files they just give digital noise. The conversion looks like any other conversion taking place.

The files ae 44KHz 16 bit 2 channel?
