    DSD to PCM conversion buggy

Tried to use Music Converter, v16.5, 32bit, DSD Decoder set to 352kHz (DXD), for the DSD64 to 24bit-88.2kHz conversion, but found it not really working well.

    1.)
The DSD demodulator seems to be buggy. There is a high level click in the right channel at the end of every converted file. I have to trim 20ms at the end to get rid of that.

    2.)
I'm using a VST EQ to perform low pass filtering at 30kHz but none of the various 32bit VST plugins tested does have any effect/seems to be working. Is the VST support broken in v16.5 ?

dBpoweramp is 64 bit, so 32 bit VST will not work.

It is likely the click at the end is because someone has written some kind of non standard tag to the end of the DSD.

I do have a 32bit installation of dBpoweramp and do all my tag edits with dBpoweramp.

Try removing the tag as a test and see if still clicks.

Have you looked in an audio editor what the click looks like?

I did some test conversions, DSD64 (*.dsf) files with cleared tags to wave 32bit floating point at 352,8kHz and the click (0dB FS) in the right channel comes up.

To me that looks like a switching click, in special with that high amplitude.

Converting the same source files with JRiver MC did not show this issue.

Sorry I do not know what to suggest, we did not write the DSD decoder.

Re: DSD to PCM conversion buggy

Is the DSD decoder sox-DSD based ? I found the same behave when converting DSD64 to PCM with sox-DSD.

I switched to Foobar with the new SACD plugin for such conversions, that works fine.

It is possible they both use the same decoder yes.
