Another dithering question

I purchased a bunch of 24/96 files from HDTRACKS, and wanted to burn them to CD for my Dad, so I’ve just been right clicking on the group of songs, changing the format to wav 16/44.1 and converting.

My question is, am I gonna regret not dithering the tracks? To be honest, I never knew what it was, but I can’t hear a difference.

Does dbpoweramp do this automatically, or is dithering (for my purpose) just much ado about nothing?

It is not done automatically, however as you said, you have to have very good hearing + equipment + training to hear the difference.
