Workflow to convert to other format AFTER rip?

    Hi Spoon/All,

I cannot find this feature (if there is one) but is it possible to create a workflow within dBpa so that it looks like something like this:

    1. dBpa rips to WAV
    2. dBpa then takes those WAVs and converts to ALAC (rather than re-ripping in ALAC)?

Would save time especially if disc is not in the AccurateRip database.

I currently doing the above manually bit would be nice it it could all be automatic.

    Many thanks!

Why don't you rip to WAV and ALAC simultaneously? Do you know multiencoder?

Thanks for your reply Dat, but I guess I set that out in my question: "Would save time especially if disc is not in the AccurateRip database." If I have to re-rip a CD securely a second time to FLAC it would re-read the CD again, correct?

      Or am I missing something?

You mention WAVE, ALAC and FLAC, you need your music in 3 formats or just one?

Sorry, I'm mixing the formats left right and center! I need it in two - WAV and ALAC.

Not re-rip but convert to two or more formats during the initial rip. This way the CD is ripped once, but the audio data are written to several formats simultaneously.

Ah! Thanks Dat. So using the multi encoder you mean that the audio is ripped once (to WAV then presumably) and the multi encoder then takes those WAV files and converts those (rather than re-ripping from the CD) to ALAC?

No, CD Ripper rips the CD (PCM) digital audio once and encodes it to WAV and ALAC.

Perfect mville! Can’t believe this feature has escaped me!

                  Many thanks!

Quick follow-up question if I may. if I choose to rip only to one code (for instance ALAC) will the CD Ripper always rip to CD (PCM) and THEN convert to ALAC?

                    Many thanks!

CD Ripper reads the PCM audio data from CD and will output to the format(s) selected in Rip to. You are able to change this setting whenever you like. You can also create profiles in CD Ripper with different settings.
