I have been informed, and also learned first-hand, that 'VLC' is a very unstable and temperamental app regarding playing music. In fact I binned it last year. Though apparently, it is still a fairly good VIDEO player.
I may have even started a thread on this forum comparing 'VLC' against other players. I can't quite remember though.

VLC is a reputable video player, but in the past it has had issues as an audio player.
As soon as I was introduced to foobar, on here, I did away with 'VLC' immediately; and have not looked back since. That was in June 2017. In my experience, I found it to be as unreliable as 'WMP'.
