    Question SD-card vs. SD-card (help?)

    Hi folks,

I ordered a Sony NW-A45 Walkman from Amazon dot com recently. I am looking for a suitable SD-card to house circa 160GB FLAC albums.

For my Amazon Fire tablet I use a SanDisk 200GB Micro-SD. This model was recommended by Amazon for my particular Fire device (it seems to be running fine as a means to storing/playing my FLACs from my tablet):

There are many makes and models (Samsung seem to be quite popular) but I need, as I say, around 160GB; so it seems that, still, the 200GB is the best option. But should a SanDisk work OK with the Sony Walkman, do you think?:

It says towards the foot of the Amazon page that Sony Walkmans and SanDisks are: "frequently bought together":

Many thanks in advance for any kind assistance offered here.

    Paul

Someone once told me never to purchase a memory-card, or similar, from a private-seller on the likes of eBay because there is a possibility the items are not genuine! But if you buy direct from Amazon, or reputable retailer, then there is no risk.

You sound so sure! Actually, it works OK in the Amazon Fire; but I will try it out tomorrow in the Sony.

What confused me was the many varying prices for, seemingly, the same thing?

These things are made to a standard. For a legitimate vendor/brand anything thats large enough will work.

You do want to watch out. There are a lot of fakes out there. You'll see many large SD and particularly micro SD cards out there for very low prices. If the price is too good to be true it is... It turns out it is pretty easy to modify a small SD card so it reports that it is a very big one to your device. However, it is still a small one and can only hold the original amount of data. When you write more than that, it overwrites some or all of the original data.

And yes there are fakes on Amazon: Read the reviews for this one.

    Re: SD-card vs. SD-card (help?)

    Thanks a lot guys.

I called Sony today (nearly 90 mins!) regarding which of SIZE SD-card is compatible with their A45 Walkman but the agent did not know. I was surprised because I did not anticipate this being a intricate question, by any means. He said he needed to escalate my question to a higher tier. Personally, I did not think that there was an upper-limit to the GB size you could use. In fact (partly my reason for phoning) I have read (in reviews) that the A45 could manage a 2TB SD!

    Cheers.
