dBpoweramp Music Converter for Mac, version R16.5 beta

    Current version: beta 3

    Download:
    https://www.dbpoweramp.com/beta/DMC-R16.5b3.dmg

    Changes since R16.4:
    • Added support for Mac OS Mojave dark mode
    • Various visual tweaks
    • Lowest supported Mac OS is now 10.10 "Yosemite"

    Changes in beta 2:
    • Various minor visual glitches fixed.
    • Fixed bugs related to writing of "ENCODER" tag, with Multi Encoder in particular.
    • Versions of LAME and FLAC encoder library used are now written to tags, as well as dBpoweramp application version.
    • Fixed a bug causing repeated ripping of the same CD to Multi Encoder to write log file including data from previous ripping passes.
    • Launcher window now re-opens after exiting one of the sub-applications.

    Changes in beta 3:
    • Ripping to "automatically add to iTunes" folder now forcibly rips to a temp folder, and moves fully encoded files to the destination folder.

Re: dBpoweramp Music Converter for Mac, version R16.5 beta

Hi Peter, downloaded this beta and looked specifically at the ENCODER tag, especially with Multi Encoder. Using ALAC, 16.5b2 has the encoder set as Apple Open Source ALAC v1.0 while in 16.4 it is tagged as "Apple Lossless Release 16.4". Is this the bug mentioned above? I think the first few iterations of dBpa for Mac used Apple Open Source ALAC v1.0 but was later changed to Apple Lossless Release X.X. Are you reverting to stating which ALAC encoder is used in the build or will the final release use Apple Lossless Release 16.5? Not a biggie obviously but interested to know.

Presumably there has only been one release of the ALAC and that is what's being used - v1.0?

    Many thanks

    Nubben

    fdk-aac_2.0.0 is released.

    https://github.com/mstorsjo/fdk-aac
    2.0.0
    - Major update in the upstream source base, with support for new
profiles and features, and numerous crash/fuzz fixes. The new
upstream version is referred to as FDKv2, thus skipping the
major version 1 and syncing the fdk-aac major version number to 2.

    and opus 1.3, too.

Note that the released R16.5 comes from R16.4 codebase with recent bug fixes. The change log differs from the above - it still supports OSX Mavericks, but does not have the dark mode.
Version R16.6 beta will be made available shortly, resuming where R16.5 beta left.
